Audi TT ultra quattro 2013

Audi Wörthersee 2013 is becoming the "House of quattro" In the great meeting of May 8 to 11 Reifnitz (Kärnten), the premium brand presented the Audi TT quattro -. Combines minimum weight and maximum sportiness. A wide range of high performance cars will also give fans another sporting event. Besides the legendary Sport Quattro S1, the most recent RS cars and thoroughbred racing models are also exhibited. Audi R18 e-tron quattro , which was the first hybrid car to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year, will also be part of the action on the lake shore.

In early May of each year, the Wörthersee is the ideal place for all Audi cars and amateur. Therefore Audi have a feature in 2013: Audi TT ultra Quattro . The show car combines paltry 1,111 kilograms (2,449.34 pounds) total weight, with a 2.0 TFSI, which 228 kW (310 hp) and 400 Nm propel the cutting force. From the judgment of the Ultra TT Quattro  is catapulted in 4.2 seconds and 100 km / h (62.14 mph). Its power to weight ratio of 3.6 kg / CV goes with super sports cars thoroughbred. And also interesting to look at the detail, especially as the concept car is a tribute to the automotive lightweight construction.

Even the cable car series with a weight of only 206 kg (454.15 pounds), plus 98 kilograms (216.05 pounds) for removable body parts is a testament to the experience of outstanding light construction Audi. The engineers in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm concerted listening to the Audi Space Frame (ASF) in the current generation TT coming up with the body for the Wörthersee showcar, even losing 43 kilograms (94.80 pounds) of the structure body. In collaboration with removable body parts optimized, the result is a weight saving of 100 kg (220.46 pounds).

Audi has taken a mix of materials, according to the motto: the right amount of the right material at the right place. TT ultra Quattro  Audi uses carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) to the rear, the center tunnel in the B-pillar and the roof. Magnesium components and strengthening the hinge ground further reduce weight.

The combination of lightness and sportsmanship also reflected in the eyes. Compared to the standard model, the Audi designers have advanced much further show contours for. With its large wings, TT Quattro Ultra proudly displays its motorsports genes. The rear spoiler base is produced as a component machined aluminum support, while on the side, as a functional element, the carbon is made visible.

The concept car is painted in a special white glass. The CFRP used outdoors adds a striking in the hood, roof and walls of the trunk. Within the same material also decorates the door cover, the center console and the transverse reinforcement which replaces the backseat. The developers have also installed bucket seats R8 GT in the study of the concept, only its frame made of fiber reinforced plastic (FRP), to reduce the weight of 22 kilograms (48.50 pounds). The driver does not need to compromise when it comes to equipment and appointments: air conditioning, power windows and controls the electromechanical parking brake are standard on most TT Quattro . A real highlight: the mirrors are replaced by compact cameras transfer images directly in the digital cockpit.

To reverse the weight spiral, Audi ultra lightweight concept applies to all elements of the car. The developers have optimized each component. The front brakes are ceramic discs with an exhaust system titanium aluminum fixed caliper ends in one central exhaust pipe. The wheels also reduce the weight of 20 kg (44.09 pounds). Radios in high-strength aluminum are bolted directly to the wheel of CFRP.

Each gram account, in particular the suspension. Here, the unsprung masses are reduced, thus improving comfort and handling. On the concept of ultra TT quattro springs are steel, but from fiber reinforced plastic (FRP).

The core of all new son of springs consists of long glass fibers impregnated with epoxy resin. A machine wraps additional fibers around the nucleus, which is only a few millimeters in diameter, with angles of plus and minus 45 degrees to the longitudinal axis alternates. The layers support each other and act in compression or tension. The use of FRP this increases to 40 percent by weight while maintaining good characteristics - 6 kg (13.23 pounds) over the whole car.

To further improve the TT management, developers have borne the brunt end of the car and moved to the center. The starter battery lithium-ion batteries, for example, inside under the seat. It is much smaller than lead-acid battery and weighs as little as just under four kilograms (8.82 pounds).

In general, all these measures are lightweight concept car about 300 kilograms (661.39 pounds) lighter than comparable series production sports car model. Anything that helps to minimize the inertial mass as 228 kilowatts (310 hp) 2.0-liter TFSI engine during acceleration holds.

The four-cylinder engine develops upscale changed its maximum torque of 400 Nm between 1,900 and 5,000 revolutions per minute, put on equal footing with the power of the V8. Changes in the crankcase, crankshaft, balancer shafts, steering, oil, nuts and auxiliary units that make the engine lighter 25 kg (55.12 pounds) contributed to the engine in good shape housing.

Thus, the Audi TT ultra quattro concept offers the kind of driving experience that fans of the car Wörthersee expect from a true performance model. As the "Ur-quattro" in 1980 and more than five million vehicles produced in series, and show the car this year is also equipped with quattro permanent all-wheel drive. Grip is always guaranteed, despite the impressive results. With a six-speed transmission, the Ultra TT Quattro Concept is 1.3 seconds faster than the standard production model to accelerate from 0-100 km / h (62.14 mph). Maximum speed is 280 km / h (173.98 mph).

The show car Audi demonstrates the technical feasibility of a mix of materials. In this way, a considerable weight savings can be achieved, even in a production model of the existing series. The use of these technologies is conceivable for a future series of small batches.

The Audi stand at Wörthersee

With high performance, success and lightweight construction, Audi presented the Wörthersee in the "House of quattro" concept not only ultra TT quattro, but four points and eight car models production.

Highlights include the new Audi RS 6 Avant. The model performance quattro GmbH offers more efficiency and better performance with less weight.
